Cancer Prevention in Action (CPiA) works hard to educate about the potential negative effects of the human papillomavirus (HPV) and to advocate for the HPV vaccine as safe and effective cancer prevention. In the months of December and January, CPiA at the Health Initiative gave six HPV presentations to medical career students at BOCES in St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties. This was a perfect opportunity for this unique group, ages 16-18. Not only is this information vital to them as young adults starting to make autonomous health decisions, but also as future medical professionals.
